Module list Module 1: Infant/Toddler Mental Health (Overview) Goal: This module will help participant begin to understand how the core concept of “relationship” is woven into the three inter-related meanings of Infant/Toddler Mental Health: a) a state of emotional well-being and competence of infants/toddlers; b) a multidisciplinary field of inquiry; and c) a set of assessment and intervention approaches
Module 2: Attachment Goal: This module will help participants understand how attachment relationships between young children and caregivers develop and the role that a secure attachment play in social-emotional development.
Module 3: Behavior Management for Infants and ToddlersGoal: The goal of this module is recognize and respond to difficult behaviors in the very young child.
Module 4: Boundaries/Provider-Family ClarityGoal: To understand how emotional boundaries can become confused in work with very young children and parents.
Module 5: Child AbuseGoal: To develop awareness of worker response to child abuse.
Module 6: Cultural AwarenessGoal: To develop an awareness of the importance of understanding personal culture to effectively relate with persons from different cultures in a sensitive, respectful, and productive way.
Module 7: Father Involvement and Infant-Toddler DevelopmentGoal: The groups members will learn about the importance of the father’s role in infant/toddler development as it relates to the developmental areas.
Module 8: Ghosts in the NurseryGoal: Participants will understand that previous relationships and experiences may influence their present relationships, especially the ability to care for one’s child.
Module 9: GriefGoal: To become aware of grief reactions in parents whose child has been diagnosed with a disability.
Module 10: Home VisitingGoal: This module will help participants begin to understand skills and attitudes necessary for successful home visiting.
Module 11: Struggling with Conflicts/Resistance to ChangeGoal: To develop awareness that conflict and resistance to treatment can provide opportunities for change.
Module 12: Substance AbuseGoal: To increase awareness of substance use and abuse and understand the effects of parental/caregiver substance use and abuse on infants and toddlers. | |||||
